It is always easy to walk away from a relationship only to realize that you made a horrible mistake. Someone may have cheated or maybe the relationship just got old, who knows. One of the reasons that people will cheat is because they are going through some life issues. Now we are not justifying it, we are just saying that different things affect different people in certain ways. Panic mode may have set in because they realize that you are the last person that they are going to be with or maybe they are just testing themselves. Sometimes they come back from this experience realizing that the best person for them is the one that they are cheating on.
Another reason to get your ex back is if he’s one of the very rare guys who feels so guilty about a one-time fling that he immediately confesses it you. It might not be pleasant or fun to hear, but if your man ‘fesses up, he may be worth saving. This is no time to let bygones be bygones, be clear that this is a one-time misstep that will never be tolerated again.
If this act was so far off the beaten path for your mate, you have to take a good look at why it really happened. Maybe it was just a moment, but you still have to be able to forgive it. A retaliation affair works out great on TV, but it will not fly in the real world.
There is also the infamous, “I was drunk” cheat. You have to look at this and see how far it actually went. We are all guilty of flirting or even kissing someone after a few too many cocktails, you just have to hope reality sets back in before it is too late. If you are younger, this is really just a part of life as maturity will usually get you past this.
When all is said and done, your heart will let you know if it is right to get back with your ex or not. Whether you are the guilty party or they are, the important thing is that if someone made a mistake, you have the ability to forgive and move on.
